Playbill: “New Version of A Strange Loop for Deaf Audiences to Be Presented in Texas and D.C.”

Emily is intimacy directing “A Strange Loop” by Michael R. Jackson and directed by Alexandria Wailes. Winner of the 2022 Tony Award for Best Musical, this production includes a cast and crew of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and hearing artists. A co-production between Visionaries of the Creative Arts (VOCA) and Deaf Austin Theatre (DAT), this show opens in Washington, D.C. at the Atlas Performing Arts Center on July 23 and runs through August 10. The show will then transfer to DAT in Austin, Texas and run from August 28 to September 14.

Emily is grateful to collaborate with such a passionate group of artists who share their drive for disability justice. They even began studying ASL with the Sign Language Center (watch out, Level 2!) and are eager to learn new ways to build community.
